ArmInfo.The new agenda for relations between Armenia and the European Union, which is currently under development, will be an important continuation of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Armenia and the EU, Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia Vassilis Maragos stated at a hearing dedicated to Armenia's European integration.
According to him, at present it is very important to determine the priorities of joint work in order to achieve the goals of CEPA. This is necessary, as the ambassador noted, in order to understand that more can be done. At the same time, issues such as democracy, human rights, external and internal security, economic cooperation, energy, the transition to a "green economy", diversification, infrastructure that will produce products that meet all standards and that will be available on international markets, and other issues.
The new agenda, Maragos continued, is based on the achievements of cooperation from past years. Work on its development is ongoing in all directions. The Ambassador pointed out the importance of implementing all provisions of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, focusing especially on regulations, their compliance with European standards, and Yerevan's continuation of reform programs. Among these standards, the diplomat highlighted issues such as human rights, the environment, digitalization and those areas that relate to quality infrastructure, including veterinary and sanitary standards.
The ambassador emphasized that the EU seeks to speed up the process of instructions to develop relations with Armenia, which will lead to the growth of new jobs in the country and the development of a "green economy". The diplomat noted that within the framework of the investment and economic program, a platform has been created, the purpose of which is to implement important projects.
The Ambassador emphasized that today there is a rapid development of relations between Brussels and Yerevan. He recalled the visit of RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan to Brussels at the end of last year and in February of this year. Maragos also recalled high-level meetings, one of which will take place on April 5 in the capital of Belgium. "It is very important to form a single European spirit, because we are all Europe," Maragos said.
