PSRC invites international advisory companies to assess energy system of Armenia and take part in elaboration of a strategic program for 2016-2036

The Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) is inviting large international advisory companies to take part in assessment of Armenia's energy system and elaboration of a strategic program for 2016-2036. The press office of the Commission has told ArmInfo that the PSRC took the relevant decision on July 27 with due regard for the June 27 statement of the Armenian President, who stressed the need to enhance the public confidence in the PSRC's activities.

"Lydian International": Possible Environmental and Social Impacts of Amulsar Gold Project

On July 23 British-Canadian "Lydian International" and its Armenian subsidiary "Geoteam" CJSC presented the results of the environmental and social impact assessment of the Amulsar Gold Project implementation. Along with several other expert consultants Wardell Armstrong International Ltd, an independent British consulting company undertook the assessment in compliance with the standards of the International Finance Corporation and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. To note, IFC and EBRD are "Lydian International" shareholders.

4-5-point earthquake registered in north of Armenia

The Seismic Protection Service of the Armenian Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations reports that a 4-point earthquake occurred in Georgia. It was registered at 10:58 am (06:68 GMT) in Rustavi, Georgia. The hypocenter was at the depth of 10 km. The quake intensity in the epicenter was 5-6 points.

Investigative Committee institutes a criminal case over shooting at Lori governor's son

The Investigative Committee has instituted a criminal case over the shooting at Levon Nalbandyan, the son of Lori province governor Arthur Nalbandyan, under Article 120 Part 1 of the Armenian Criminal Code (reckless infliction of grievous bodily harm) and Article 235 Part 1 (illegal keeping of fire weapons). The Investigative Committee has told ArmInfo that on July 19, at 0:40 am, the Alaverdi Medical Center reported that Levon Nalbandyan (born in 1993) was brought to the Medical Center with gunshot wounds.

VTB Bank (Armenia) Offering 1.8-mln-AMD worth Student Loans

VTB Bank (Armenia) is offering a loan programme to students who have got admitted to a university and have to pay a tuition fee. The bank's press office has informed ArmInfo that the loan will be allocated in AMD with a maturity of up to 10 years with 12% interest rate; Ministry of Finance will subsidize 2% of the interest rate.

The successful inaugural bond issue listing on the Vienna Stock Exchange has encouraged Ardshinbank to launch a second issue on the Irish Stock Exchange. The second issue proves to be bigger than the first one. This time the issue has amounted to $100 million with a public offering. The coupon yield is 12% and the payment frequency is once every six months. The nominal value of the bonds is $100 thsd. The redemption of the second issue bonds expires on 29 July 2020. The lead manager of the second issue, like in the first case, is J.P. Morgan Securities Plc.

The OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs hope that the negotiations over the Karabakh conflict settlement will be intensified, Igor Popov, Russian Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, told reporters in Baku on July 23.

British premiere of Tigran Jukhajyan's "Karine" operetta to take place in London on August 14

The British premiere of Tigran Jukhajyan's "Karine" operetta will take place in London on August 14. Zhirayr Papazyan, the director, has told ArmInfo that the operetta will be staged in London on August 14 and 15. The premiere of "Karine" was held in France in May 2010 at Theatre of Saint-Maur (Paris) and Theatre de L'Odeon (Marseille). In November 2015, the operetta will be staged in Alfortville, France.

Watermelon festival to be held in Yerevan

An annual watermelon festival will be held near the Swan Lake in Yerevan on July 18.

Beeline launches "Roaming Packages" service

Beeline press office has told ArmInfo that Beeline announced the launch of three "Roaming Packages." From now on, when in roaming, Beeline subscribers will pay a single tariff starting at AMD 50 for incoming calls, outgoing calls to Armenia and outgoing local calls, as well as 1MB Internet.

Beeline to complete digitization of landline network in Ijevan by 15 Oct 2015

Beeline continues working at digitization of telephone exchanges and subscriber lines in Armenian provinces. The press office of Beeline Armenia reports that the landline digitization, enlargement of telephone exchanges and partial reconnection of the current subscriber lines in Ijevan (Tavush province) have been underway since July 2015.
