ArmInfo.Armenian border guards will begin performing their duties at Zvartnots airport on August 1 of this year. Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan announced at a press conference on March 12.
According to him, by this date Russian border guards will completely leave the airport. As the head of the Armenian government emphasized, Armenia views this issue as a working issue, and not a political or geopolitical one.
According to a statement by spokesperson of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin received a letter from the Armenian side regarding the termination of the work of Russian border guards at the Yerevan Zvartnots airport. "Indeed, the departmental letter was received. Now, in this regard, there are contacts between departments. I can't say more now. Naturally, contacts will continue at all possible levels," Peskov said.
