"The actively developing cooperation between our Armed Forces is encouraging. It is a great honor for us to accept students from Armenia to provide them with a military education. This year we also plan to develop cooperation with the National Research University of Defense of Armenia, as well as continue to prepare current and future leaders of the Armed Forces Of Armenia, "Cooper said at an event dedicated to the Day of the Armenian Army, the Voice of America reports.
At the same time, she expressed her conviction that the basis of the Armenian-American defense cooperation is the expanding partnership between Armenia and the state of Kansas. "Current projects with the state of Kansas allow expanding the possibilities of Armenia-NATO interaction, and promoting defense reforms in Armenia," Cooper concluded.
In turn, the Ambassador of Armenia to the United States Varujan Nersesyan, recalling the Armenian- American active interaction in bilateral and multilateral formats, in particular, noted: "The strategic dialogue between Armenia and the USA, launched last year, provides a platform for global negotiations, including including in the field of military-political partnership. "
Recalling the contribution of Armenia to the maintenance of world stability and security, the ambassador noted that today 120 Armenian troops in Afghanistan contribute to ensuring peace and security for the Afghan people, another 41 Armenian peacekeepers within the framework of the NATO contingent in Kosovo make an important contribution to maintaining stability and security in Western Balkans.
