ArmInfo.Serzh Sargsyan did not joke when in 2014, at a meeting with members of the Constitutional Court, he said that he did not intend to apply for the post of prime minister of Armenia if he passed the draft of the constitutional reforms envisaging the transition of the republic to a parliamentary form of government. "He expressed his opinion," said Harutyunyan, answering the question of the head of the Elk faction Nikol Pashinyan.
While discussing candidacies for the Justice Council in the parliament, Pashinyan asked Harutyunyan in particular how Sargsyan was serious, giving a promise at a meeting with the members of the Constitutional Court about his non-promotion to the post of prime minister in the event of the republic's transition to a parliamentary form of government. "I'm interested in the question whether Sargsyan said all this seriously, or maybe he joked, and maybe he made some sort of recognition gesture to you, but this movement was later mounted, and did not get on the air?" asked Pashinyan. However, Harutyunyan assured that Sargsyan did not joke at that meeting and did not make any identification gestures. "I can not comment on all other issues, I think they should be sent to Sargsyan himself," Harutyunyan said.
It should be noted that prior to the constitutional referendum in 2014, Serzh Sargsyan promised not to lay claim to the post of the Prime Minister of Armenia in the event of the republic's transition to a parliamentary form of government. However, the high-ranking sources of ArmInfo in the Republican Party and in the government reported that this issue has already been closed, and on April 9 of this year the RPA will nominate Serzh Sargsyan for the prime minister's election. Meanwhile, the opposition has already announced consolidation in order to prevent the implementation of such a scenario.
