ArmInfo. The creation of an Armenia-Artsakh-Diaspora confederation will allow making decisions in Yerevan, not in Bologna or Venice, according to Ashot Manucharyan, member of "Karabakh Committee", national security advisor to the first president of Armenia.
"Since Armenia lacks political parties suggesting real and large-scale programs that contain a clear vision of the further development of our country, a group of Armenian intellectuals - Spiritual Armenia - suggests setting up a confederation comprising Armenia, Artsakh and certain segments of Diaspora. Today the relevant experts come out with fantastic proposals, but our political forces keep silence," he says.
Nevertheless, the analyst considers the consolidation of Armenians worldwide under the flag of the specified idea to be inevitable. The question is whether it will happen in 1-2 months or in 1-2 years.
Manucharyan expects a number of smart and far-sighted politicians and political forces (including the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, but without Serzh Sarsgyan) to join the idea. He notes that Armenia is governed by foreign forces and that neither Donald Trump nor any other politicians will change anything in Armenia for the sake of Armenians worldwide.
"We are going to hold a Pan-Armenian forum in March, involving wide public strata. I think this will become a big step forward for Armenian intellectuals on their path to passing Armenia to Armenians," he says.
