ArmInfo. In a conversation with ArmInfo's correspondent, Armenian Defense Ministry Spokesman Artsrun Hovhannisyan has confirmed the information that 3 Armenian servicemen were killed as a result of the Azeri armed forces' attempted sabotage attack on the Armenian-Azeri state border.
"One of the victims is an officer, the other two are privates," he says, noting that Senior Lieutenant Shavarsh Meliksetyan and privates Edgar Narayan and Erik Abovyan were killed. Hovhannisyan notes that the clashes are still going on. However, the Spokesman refused to assess the situation on the border.
According to Hovhannisyan, when retreating the adversary left one victim on the Armenian side. There is no more detailed information about Azeri losses. "The entire responsibility for the provocation lies on the Azeri leadership," the Armenian Defense Ministry says.
To note, on December 29 morning, the Azeri armed forces attempted a sabotage attack on the southeastern section of the Azeri-Armenian border near Chinari village of Tavush province of Armenia. The adversary used sniper rifles and grenade launchers. The Armenian troops got to grips with the adversary.
