ArmInfo. Russian Ambassador murder in Ankara could become an argument for adepts of giving up Artsakh territories, Arman Melikyan, the independent expert, expressed his opinion to ArmInfo.
Yesterday Andrey Carlov, Russia's Ambassador to Turkey Andrei Karlov was shot dead at an art gallery in the Turkish capital on Monday. The gunman was an off-duty policeman Mevlut Mert Altintas, 22, who opened fire at an art gallery in Ankara as Andrei Karlov was making a speech. After which the gunman was shot down by Turkish policemen. Russian operative group on investigation, comprising 18 members, left for Turkey.
"To me, this assassination will make the situation more explosive and complicated. I want to express my regrets to the family of Russian Ambassador. At the same time I think that this terrorist act will become another argument for those who tries to present giving up Armenian territories as the keystone of peace settlement in our region and making the basis for eternal Russian-Turkish friendship," the expert mentioned.
Melikyan said also he strictly suspects the motivation of Turkish special forces, shooting down the gunman immediately instead of arresting him and in initiating a proper investigation.
