ArmInfo. The heart of the matter is that Azerbaijan and Armenia should observe their liabilities in respect to the peaceful settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. This was stated by Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulidis in respect to Nagorno-Karabakh settlement.
He accentuated that the Cyprus chairing in the European Council will be impartial. "Our main principle is the impartiality, we are not intended to be on anyone's side. To the best of my knowledge, the Karabakh conflict settlement issue is under the competence of the OSCE Minsk group. I think that the meeting of Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents before next summer would be a proper step to find new ways of peaceful settlement of the conflict. The Council of Europe is ready to provide any possible help in respect to this," he said.
Speaking about "frozen conflicts" in common, the Minister stated the importance of using EU mechanisms by all the residents of European Community. "As You know, conflicts settlement is not a responsibility of the Council of Europe. It is an issue that other international organizations should deal with. What is to the Council of Europe, the main issue here is to secure the availability of CE tools for all the residents all over tEurope," Kasoulidis stated, presenting the priorities of Cyprus for upcoming 6 months in the Council of Europe.
