ArmInfo. Most of the political forces have not decided yet on the format of participation in the upcoming parliamentary elections in Armenia.
Particularly, Head of Armenian National Congress Levon Zurabyan in a talk to ArmInfo's correspondent stated that the ANC has received a lot of proposals related to cooperation in the upcoming parliamentary elections, however it is not going to take rapid decisions. At the same time he stated that cooperation between ANC and People's Party of Armenia headed by Stepan Demirchyan is very close and most likely will continue during April elections. At the same time he did not wanted to answer to the question whether ANC has received proposal for cooperation from Nikol Pashinyan's "Civil Contract" and Edmon Marukyan's "Bright Armenia", which were expressing intention to jointly participate in the elections.
Member of "Unity" party Stepan Margaryan stated that the political party intends to participate in the elections via pre-electoral bloc, however he did not mentioned with which parties they will cooperate. At the same time he stated that negotiations with the parties still continue. "We stand for wide consolidation however it should be based on ideological solidarity", he stressed. The politician rejected the information that Unity has offered cooperation to Civil Contract and Bright Armenia, which did not accept it.
Head of "Alliance" Tigran Urikhanyan also stated that political consultations were held with a lot of political forces. However, according to him cooperation is possible with only those forces, which have been guided by their principles, have not changed their stands and have not acted as puppet parties. He also noted that negotiations on cooperation were also held with Civil Contract and Bright Armenia, however they failed. Regarding possible cooperation with Bright Armenia Urikhanyan stated that this depends on Gagik Tsarukyan's return to politics.
Head of "Free Democrats" Khachatur Kokobelyan in turn stated that his party will participate in elections by its own list, in which members of other forces having free views and western values will also be included. "I am sure that we will overcome 5% threshold", he stressed. The politician also refuted information that Free Democrats offered cooperation to Vartan Oskanian's "Unity" and Hrant Bagratyan's "Liberty" parties, as well as to "Civil Contract" and "Bright Armenia", however they did not expressed wish to cooperate. "This information does not correspond to the facts", Kokobelyan said.
To note, parliamentary elections in Armenia will be held on April 2, 2017. On December 2 "Republic", "Civil Contract" and "Bright Armenia" stated that they reached concrete political agreement on pre- electoral consolidation.
