ArmInfo. Armenian Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies Vahan Martirosyan announced his intention to join the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).
Martirosyan told reporters that he has already filed the relevant application and now is waiting for the RPA's response. He said that no pressure was exerted on him in this matter and that it was his conscious decision. "The government is a team and if most of its representatives are RPA members, it is necessary to join that team to implement the reforms more effectively," he said.
Culture Minister Armen Amiryan has made no decision yet to join the RPA. He decided to wait until April 2017. In April 2017 Armenia will hold parliamentary elections and then the government will resign.
To note, today Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan has also announced his intention to join the RPA. Previously, Defense Minister Vigen Sargsyan also expressed such an intention.
