ArmInfo. Armenian Defense Minister Vigen Sargsyan is going to join the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).
He told reporters on November 15 that non-partisan activity is no longer possible in the light of the constitutional reforms conducted in Dec 2015. "I have decided to join the RPA in the near future," he said, noting that he has been non-partisan so far, because the post of the head of President Staff was not a political post.
According to ArmInfo's sources, Vigen Sargsyan will not be an ordinary member of the party, but he will be in the party's top political structures and one of the first names on the party list during the parliamentary elections in Armenia. Besides Sargsyan, during the RPA congress Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan and several non-partisan ministers will also join the RPA.
