ArmInfo. Vice Speaker of Armenian Parliament Eduard Sharmazanov thinks the most important message of the US President-elect Donald Trump is his willingness to conduct dialogues and his refusal from a conflictive policy.
Sharmazanov has told ArmInfo that unlike the incumbent authorities of the US, Trump wants no escalation in international conflicts. Moreover, he has already expressed his willingness to start a dialogue with Russia. "He has sent a clear message to his team and American people, as well as to his foreign counterparts that he campaigns for a dialogue. It is also very important for Armenia, because escalations both in the Middle East and in Ukraine affect our country as well," he says.
The politician notes that the Karabakh peace process is a rare platform, where Moscow and Washington cooperate. Sharmazanov thinks that the intensification of the US-Russian dialogue may have a positive effect on the Karabakh peace process. He says it is primitive to think that Trump's economic ties with Baku may have negative consequences for the Karabakh conflict settlement. He congratulates the US Republican Party on its candidate's victory and notes that Trump is more interested in stability and peace in the region.
To note, according to preliminary results Republican Donald Trump has won the elections in the US by obtaining 276, while Hillary Clinton got only 218. As many as 57,040,030 people voted for Trump and 56,029,966 for Clinton
