ArmInfo. Russia wants to see Armenia as a strong partner, Russia's Ambassador to Armenia Ivan Volynkin said at an event dedicated to the National Unity Day.
"Together we will be able to resist the international and regional challenges and ensure the prosperity and development of our countries," the Russian diplomat said.
At the same time, he noted that there are forces trying to interfere with the domestic affairs of other states. The Ambassador thinks that such actions endanger both international and regional security, as well as stability.
Volynkin stressed that only an equal dialogue between sovereign states can lead to tangible success in the efforts towards maintenance of peace and security.
To note, high-ranking Armenian officials, diplomats, servicemen, intellectuals and media representatives attended the event held at the Russian Embassy in Armenia.
Russia annually marks the National Unity Day on November 4. It commemorates the popular uprising which expelled Polish occupation forces from Moscow in November 1612, and more generally the end of the Time of Troubles and turning point of the Polish-Muscovite War (1605-1618). The day is also the feast day of the Russian Orthodox icon of Our Lady of Kazan.
