ArmInfo. Sasna Tsrer present their roadmap in Yerevan
As Alec Yenikomshian, member of Founding Parliament and ASALA vet, shared at press-briefing held in Yerevan on November 1, the road map is entitled as "Establishment of a New Republic". According to Yenikomshian, the road map is open for suggestions to be submitted to the Sasna Tsrer profile on Facebook. "We have repeatedly stated that it is pretty long time that our country faces the necessity of power shift. But it is impossible to solve all the problems capsulated during these years only by changing the authorities. Nowadays we face three main objectives to be reached - corruption cancellation and legitimate power establishment, adjudication of Nagorno Karabakh and building a viable society. Unless all these targets are reached, it's impossible to change the situation in the country," Yenikomshian said.
At the same time he mentioned that all the actions should be implemented in two stages - first to shift the power, and the second - to set a two-year transitional period, which would be followed by the implementation of the three tasks mentioned above, new Constitution development and legitimate elections in Armenia. Yenikomshian felt hard to mention clearly the terms of the first stage to be completed. He just stated that it will depend on how fast and efficient the society will get mobilized and be led to struggle. The FP member also disagreed with the view that considers the situation with the Police Station seizure as a resultless one. "Today the public mentality has cardinally changed, it is much higher than it used to be several years earlier. People do see the demand of changes", Yenikomshian added.
Meanwhile, answering the question if he really thinks that the power shift would become the result of Sasna Tsrer actions, Yenikomshian accentuated that does not agree with such wording. "Today's Government is of much more satellite nature than the previous one," the FP member said. Talking about the prospective way of the country's development, Yenikomshian stated confidently, that it should quit participating in CSTO and EEU as soon as possible, improve relationship with NATO and especially with the USA. "That absolutely does not mean jumping from one military alliance to another, no way. I am confident also that Armenia should strengthen the partnership with Iran," he resumed.
To remind, on July 17 this year, the Sasna Tsrer group seized the police station in Erebouni community. Sasna Tsrer demanded discharging Jirair Sephilyan and shifting the power in the country. Sasna Tsrer actions sparked significant public outcry, multiple demonstrations took place in Yerevan, and, as the result, dozens of people have been detained and arrested. The police station building was unblocked on July 31, and 31 members of the group were arrested. Three of police officers were killed, more than ten members of Sasna Tsrer were injured.
