ArmInfo.Armenian Parliament Vice Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov advises the Armenian National Congress (ANC) to overcome the discrepancies inside the party and only after that to come out with calls for consolidation of the opposition field on the threshold of elections 2017 to shift the power.
He told reporters on October 25 that he doubts any possible consolidation of the opposition due to the lack of ideological basis for cooperation. Zharmazanov noted that the local administration demonstrated that the main fight was not between the opposition and the authorities, but it was among the opposition forces. Consequently, it is irrelevant to speak of any consolidation. "The ANC is experiencing a crisis. Before coming out with statements, it should settle the problems inside the faction. One usually joins influential political forces, and the local elections have demonstrated that the ANC is not such a force," he stressed.
On October 24, the ANC disseminated a statement saying that it is willing to cooperate with the political forces during the parliamentary elections of 2017. The party considers that only consolidation of the opposition field can topple the regime.
