ArmInfo. The current, extremely cautious policy of the Armenian leadership is fraught with great risks for us in the future. Leader of the Sovereign Armenia party David Sanasaryan expressed a similar opinion to ArmInfo.
"These people are trying to refrain from any step that the Kremlin might suddenly not like. They are trying to do so in order to avoid provoking a new war, they are trying to avoid an indirect response to such a step. In my personal opinion, such a policy is extremely problematic and does not contain anything that can lead to positive changes for our country in the future," he said.
According to the politician, at this stage, Armenia's policy is aimed at meeting Baku's demands, Even at the expense of violation of existing agreements, example of which is the case of the early departure of the Armenian population from the settlements of the Lachin corridor. According to Sanasaryan, the reason for what is happening is related to the use of military force by Azerbaijan with the tacit approval of the Russian Federation.
Against this background, the main issue for the politician remains the time frame in which Armenia will continue to be cautious and simultaneously implement the agreements between Moscow and Ankara. Moreover, in conditions when the latter completely contradict Yerevan's own interests. Sanasaryan is convinced that this situation is solely the result of the Armenian leadership's own mistakes.
The politician sees a way out of the current situation in Armenia's transition from cautious diplomacy to militant diplomacy. In the light of the absence of even theoretical hopes for any positive changes for Armenia from the current policy, in his opinion, this remains the only way out of the current situation.
"It is possible to stop the advance of the enemy, return the situation to a state of balance only through weapons. We must be armed, prepared, we must develop the economy as much as possible. We have no other way. Given the lack of special opportunities for Russia to help Armenia in the process of arming and modernizing the army, it is necessary to find new ways of arms deliveries, at any cost, since the future and the very existence of Armenia depends on this," Sanasaryan summed up.
