ArmInfo. The Ministry of Health of Armenia is preparing for a new scenario in connection with the development of coronavirus infection in the country. The Minister of Health of Armenia Arsen Torosyan stated this in an interview with Radio Azatutyun (RFE/RL's Armenian Service- Ed. note).
He noted that perhaps Armenia will follow the example of other countries and stop hospitalizing patients with an asymptomatic course of the disease, or with mild symptoms. <Of course, such a method contains risks, since the likelihood of infection of the relatives of this patient increases. However, this is the most acceptable option. It's impossible to keep everyone in the hospital. From now on, we will only hospitalize patients with moderate severity and severe state>, Torosyan said. According to the Minister of Healthcare, the rate of spread of coronavirus is increasing in absolute numbers, but in percentage terms it does not change. <Unfortunately, we have increased foci of the disease. That is, in mid-March, when the virus began to spread, we had two foci of the disease. However, then their number increased to three. The virus began to spread more and more, and the number of outbreaks got out of control. At the moment, we have 10, sometimes 20 foci in no way connected with each other, and we cannot find the threads that connect them to the first foci. This is natural, since the number of patients who do not have symptoms of the virus is significant, perhaps the virus spreads from a person who does not know that he is infected>, said Torosyan. According to the Minister of Health, cases of infection also occur in medical centers.
<We are making great efforts to prevent the spread of the virus in medical centers and to protect other patients. Unfortunately, the increase in the number of cases is due to the fact that interregional and intercity roads and some business entities have opened. It should be noted that as of April 27, 1808 cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in Armenia. Of these, 848 people recovered, 29 patients died.
