ArmInfo.Minister of Healthcare of Armenia Arsen Torosyan in an interview with RFE/RL's Armenian Service stated that the problem of the spread of the coronavirus pandemic is not only geographic, but also epidemiological.
He noted that the Ministry of Healthcare reacts to all cases of infection. <But the day will come when we will not be able to do this, moreover, the closure of this or that community will become meaningless. To date, about 2,200 people have been isolated, about 2,000 have left self-isolation and another 3,000 people are on self-isolation>, Torosyan emphasized.
The Minister noted that the source of the infection in Etchmiadzin has almost disappeared. "As a result of the policy of self-isolation, we managed to ensure that the number of cases of infection did not exceed 10.000," he emphasized. When asked does this pandemic reached its peak, Torosyan stated: <Peak, this is a very relative concept. It is impossible to forecast what it will be and whether there will be one peak, or there will be several of them, at least until there is no vaccine, or everyone is ill, or the outbreak subsides. We are very cautious in making forecasts>. To the question, it is possible that few tests have been done in Armenia (17930), Torosyan said that he does not think so. According to him, the tests must be done on the basis of evidence. <If we have 3 million tests, and we test everyone, this does not mean that we will identify all infected people. People can become infected later, say, in 5-6 days>, concluded Torosyan.
