ArmInfo. The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov expressed condolences to Armenia on the occasion of the memorial day of the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
"April 24 is a day of remembrance of the Armenian Genocide, a day of pain and sorrow for the millions of people who died from 1915 to 1924 ... 105 years of tragedy ... Tragedy that the world then decided not to notice. But impunity breeds new crimes! Remember, to never allow again! "- Avakov wrote in his microblog on Twitter.
It should be noted that by this Avakov ignored the call of the deputy foreign minister of the country, Vasyl Bodnar, to Ukrainian officials to refrain from participating in commemorative events on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and to refuse to use this term.
As ArmInfo previously reported, on April 22 a letter was spread by the media by Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Vasyl Bodnar to Ukrainian officials, in which he asked them to refrain from using the term Armenian Genocide. The letter in particular states that Ukraine does not recognize the Armenian Genocide, and the diplomat asked Ukrainian officials to refrain from participating in commemorative events on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and to refuse to use this term. This step by Bodnar has already been harshly criticized by the member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Daria Volodina.
To note, Ukraine has not officially recognized the Armenian Genocide. But, now the Verkhovna Rada is considering a draft resolution initiated by MP Anton Polyakov "Draft Resolution on the Recognition of the Armenian Genocide" (registration No. 2376 of 11/05/2019).
