Minister: The route from Kunming to Yerevan should be transitional

This was stated by RA Minister of Environment Hambardzum Matevosyan at the Kunming Dialogue conference in Kunming, presenting the approaches and priorities of Armenia's chairmanship of the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP-17). This was reported by the press service of the RA Ministry of Environment.

In his speech, the minister emphasized that Kunming is of particular importance for the global biodiversity agenda; It was here that the path to the formation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework began.

"Today, as we approach the first global review of collective progress in its implementation, our task is not only to assess the results achieved and existing gaps, but also to clarify what steps we can take to accelerate implementation by 2030. Armenia, as the COP-17 Presidency, views the first global review as an opportunity to strengthen implementation mechanisms, advance practical steps, and create the necessary conditions for countries and all stakeholders to fulfill their commitments. The path from Kunming to Yerevan must be a transition: from commitments to implementation, from assessment to acceleration, from ambition to action."

This is also the message of the Armenian COP-17 Presidency: "Act for nature." Kunming gave us the Global Framework, Nairobi strengthened the scientific foundations and the necessary conditions for implementation, and our goal is for Yerevan to become a platform for action,” the minister said.
