In 2016, Armenia will submit an elaborated application for putting "Kochari: The traditional group dance" on the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Culture Minister of Armenia Hasmik Poghosyn told ArmInfo.
As for Azerbaijan's traditional response to Armenia's applications to UNESCO, the minister said: "We have got used to it. Let international organizations think over it. Everything happens in front of their eyes."
Earlier, Armenian delegation to UNESCO revealed false Azerbaijani propaganda. The Foreign Ministry reported that during the 10th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage, held in Windhoek, Armenian delegation responded to spreading of black propaganda by Azerbaijani mass media.
The application on inclusion of the "Kochari: The traditional group dance" in UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity was discussed within the framework of the 10th session of the Committee for Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage held in Windhoek, Namibia. The Committee reviewed its stance on the initial decision of the expert group thanks to the arguments presented by the Armenian delegation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia reported. As a result of discussions between the members of the Committee, the experts and the Armenian delegation, the Committee confirmed that "being an expression of national identity, the
Kochari group dance is widely spread in Armenia and the Diaspora." Armenia will present an amended application for further consideration of the Committee.
The 10th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage launched on November 29 and will last till December 4. Review of 34 candidates for including on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity is on the agenda of the session.
