The Investigative Committee of Armenia has arrested President of the Gyumri-based Journalists Club "Asbarez" Levon Barseghyan. According to the Investigative Committee press-office, Barseghyan is incriminated a crime under Article 235.4 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (Illegally carrying of cold steel).
According to the source, Levon Barseghyan was detained in Khorenatsi Street at 3:30am on July 27. "The Police searched Barseghyan and found an 18.8sm blade and an 8.5sm jackknife. Examination will be held. On July 27, the Shengavit Department of the Yerevan Police initiated a criminal case and after its comprehensive investigation, the investigation officer adopted a decision to hold a medical forensic examination of Barseghyan. He was arrested," the press office reported.
The Police detained also Andrias Ghukasyan, a member of New Armenia Front. The National Security Service officers detained Alek Yenigomshyan, a member of the opposition initiative Founding Parliament. Hundreds have been detained from Khorenatsi Street where the people rallied in support of the armed loyalists of the jailed oppositionist Jirayr Sefilyan that seized the Police Patrol Service Regime on July 17 demanding Sefilyan's release and resignation of the president.
