Activities on reduction of the car fleet in state agencies are underway; we have reduced the car fleet by 30 cars this week, David Haroutiunyan, Minister - Head of the Government Staff, stated at the government session on May 25.
According to the minister as of today it is planned to reduce the car fleet by 797 cars that are directly or indirectly funded from the state budget 137 of these cars were servicing the republican executive bodies. According to the government's today's decision the state budget will fund servicing of 952 official cars this years and 815 in 2017. It is noted that the car fleet has mostly reduced in the Ministry of Agriculture and in the Ministry of Energy: in the first one by 138 cars (43 in the State Service for Food Safety and 51 in State Committee for Water Resources), and in the second ministry by 115.
The number of official cars at the Ministry of Education and Science will decrease by 106, in the Health Ministry by 74 and in the Ministry of Emergency Situations by 70. Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs will reduce the number of its official cars by 61, the State Income Committee by 56, the Transport Ministry -54, Ministry of Economy-46, Ministry of Ecology-33, Justice Ministry-29, Ministry of Culture-15, State Committee of Real Estate-15, Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs-14. The government's administration will reduce the number of its cars by 10, the State Property Management Committee also by 10, the Ministry of Urban Development by 9, Finance Ministry-by 5, Ministry of Territorial Administration by 4 and the General Department of Civil Aviation by 4 cars.
To recall, on May 19 the Government of Armenia reported a reduction in the number of official cars by 797, to implement the prime minister's charges concerning formation of a less expensive government machinery. David Haroutiunyan, Minister - Head of the Government Staff, addressed the Government on May 19 saying measures are taken together with all the militaries and departments, except the defense and foreign ministries, to implement the prime minister's instruction. He said 107 official cars funded by the state budget and 690 cars serving the funds, state non- commercial organizations and CJSC at the Government of Armenia will be put out of use. The finance minister is charged to draft a protocol on the reduction of the car fleet and the service costs.
The control service of the prime minister will be supervising the purposeful use of the official cars. Data on all official cars and the statesmen they are serving will be available on the official websites. The Government bans provision of official cars to separate officials, funds, non-commercial organizations and CJSC at the government. The prime minister will be informed on the procurement of official cars on the budget funds and external financing, David Haroutiunyan said.
