At tomorrow's congress of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), Gagik Tsarukyan, the PAP leader, will announce that he is leaving the post of the PAP chairman, Mikayel Melkumyan, a parliamentarian from the PAP, told journalists.
He said that PAP Faction Secretary Naira Zohrabyan will become the chairperson of the party. Melkumyan added that ex-foreign minister of Armenia Vartan Oskanian will also announce his withdrawal from the PAP.
Other members of Prosperous Armenia, particularly, MPs Martun Grigoryan and Abraham Manukyan are also expected to officially leave the PAP.
MPs Grigory Margaryan, Rustam Gasparyan, Melik Manukyan, Harutyun Karagyozyan, Aragats Akhoyan and Karo Karapetyan have already left the party.
To note, the current situation is the result of discord between the PAP leader Gagik Tsarukyan and Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan. Tsarukyan and Sargsyan had a "reconciliation meeting" and the "reconciliation" price was Tsarukyan's withdrawal from the political arena.
