The 2nd South Caucasus Infrastructure & New Energy Investment Summit kicked off in Tbilisi on Feb 5.
The event is being attended by delegations from all over the CIS. Armenia is represented by the South Caucasus Railway.
The Armenian company became the highlight of the summit's exhibition. The visitors were impressed with the work done by the company and the $245mln invested in Armenia's railways in 2009-2014.
Deputy CEO Oleg Shatalov and Head of the Transportation Service Center Zara Agasafyan gave interviews to local mass media.
During the summit Shatalov delivered a report on his company's activities and plans. For many guests from Europe it was news that the South Caucasus Railway is the subsidiary of the Russian Railways. Once this became known, more people, mostly businessmen, began visiting the company's pavilion.
Georgians were interested in receiving fertilizers from Russia, Israelis in deliveries to Armenia. Many of the visitors asked when the Iran-Armenia railway will be ready. Among the guest was Georgy Bekua, advisor of Georgia's Economy and Stable Development Minister.
The summit will finish on Feb 6.
The South Caucasus Railway is 100% subsidiary of the Russian Railways and has 30-year concession to the Armenian Railways.
