It is senseless to comment on
yesterday's meeting of Armenian National Congress (ANC) Leader Levon
Ter-Petrosyan and Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) Leader Gagik Tsarukyan,
because there is no specific information on what the meeting covered and what
goals it had, Head of the Parliamentary Commission on State and Legal Affairs
Hovhannes Sahakyan told ArmInfo's correspondent.
"All I can say about that meeting judging from
the photos published is that the ANC representatives put such good faces as if
they were marrying their daughter to a wealthy man", the MP said. He added
that there is no need yet to respond to the actions of the 4 non-coalition
parliamentary forces, because their steps are not serious. "When they take
specific steps, they will receive an adequate response. We have a lot of things
to remind them of", he said.
As regards the statement of the ANC and PAP that
during the meeting the ANC and PAP leaders stressed the inexpediency of the
constitutional reforms, Sahakyan stressed, "It is noteworthy that the
people, who are unaware of the concept of these reforms, speak of their
inexpediency without even properly explaining their own stand. The only thing they say is that the people
are not interested in the reforms given the hard social conditions. But if we
follow this logic, we should say that the Parliament must not adopt any laws
and other state establishments must not take any decision either, because the
people are not interested in them".
When commenting on PAP Faction
Secretary Naira Zohrabyan's statement that the PAP, as one of the most
influential forces of Armenia, has serious ambitions for the presidential
elections 2018, Sahakyan recalled, "What prevented that serious and
influential force from running in the presidential elections 2013? Why did it
disappoint its electorate? Or wasn't it so serious and influential at that
time?" To note, according to official information, yesterday's
Tsarukyan-Ter-Petrosyan meetiong covered issues related to preparations for a
joint rally, as well as the plans and activities of the 4 non-coalition forces
of Armenian Parliament (PAP, ANC, Heritage and ARF Dashnaktsutyun). The sides also stressed that the
constitutional reforms initiated by the authorities are inexpedient.
