The Armenian authorities have once again demsontarted deceptive behavior by pushing through the draft of amendments and additions to Electoral Code; Head of Armenian National Congress Faction Levon Zurabyan expressed this opinion at today's briefing in parliament.
According to him the authorities should refrain from provocative actions taking into account that Armenia and Artsakh are facing external threat. Moreover, according to him the ruling regime should mobilize the people and not adopt laws, which will lead to split in the society. At the same time he suggested the opposition putting an end to minor scuffles, as the main difference of the real opposition is that it criticizes the authorities. However, Zurabyan also stated that ANC will continue its soft stand toward the authorities as it thinks that currently there are more important problems and serious external threats.
Member of Orinats Yerkir faction Hovhanness Margaryan in his turn accused the ruling Republican Party of Armenia in breaching the parliamentary procedures. At the same time he added that such stand is unacceptable when such a serious document as Electoral Code is being discussed. He also added that Orinats Yerkir is ready to join the proposal made by ARF Dashanktsutyun on signing the "gentleman's agreement" on excluding pre-election bribing.
Member of Prosperous Armenia Faction Mikael Melkumyan also stated that they are ready to sign this gentlemen's agreement and put an end to pre-electoral bribes.
