Parliament of Armenia passed draft amendments to the Constitution of Armenia with 104 votes today, on October 5. Ten parliamentarians - members of the Armenian National Congress Party, as well as Zaruhi Postanjyan from Heritage Party, and Tigran Urikhanyan from Prosperous Armenia Party voted against the document. Another thee parliamentarians - members of Orinats Yerkir Party - abstained from voting. The document was supported by the Republican Party of Armenia, Prosperous Armenia Party (previously it was against the reform), and ARFD. The other parliamentarians from the Prosperous Armenia Party who opposed the document boycotted the voting.
The situation outside the building of the Armenian National Assembly where the "NO!" movement is protesting against the Constitutional Reform remains tense.
The referendum is scheduled for December 6. Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, who will retire or will take a vacation by that time, will be appointed as the Chief of the Campaign Headquarters. Those opposing the reform say it will help the incumbent authorities retain their grip on power.
