"South Caucasian Railway" CJSC (UKZHD) has repaired its 94-year-old employee Gerasim Margaryan's house in Solak village (Kotayk region). Gerasim is a veteran of the Great Patriotic War.
"UKZHD" CEO Viktor Rebets handed the house keys and gifts to the veteran. "Ahead of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory we are meeting our veteran and order-bearer Gerasim Margaryan in his repaired house. Margaryan suffered lots of hardships during the war, but he never gave up and started working at railway after the war. He dedicated 56 years of his life to the railway - first he was a roadmaster, then - a track foreman, after he was providing their safety", said Rebets.
According to Rebets, there is sort of an exhibition, held at Yerevan Railway Station, featuring stories about the participation of the Armenians in the Great Patriotic War. He reminded that Armenia had sent more than 600.000 men to the front. The Armenian railmen had their contribution to the victory.
Rebets has also said that on May 8 a meeting with the company's veterans will be held in Gyumri. The company will also open a "Remembrance Alley" there.
In his turn, the veteran thanked UKZHD for the assistance in the repairing process, as well as for duly appreciating his hard work.
Margaryan was born in 1921 and was off at the front in 1941. He has 5 daughters and 14 grandchildren.
