Conflicts, including the Armenian- Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should be solved peacefully, the German Chancellor Angela Merkel said at a joint press conference with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Berlin, on January 21, Trend's special correspondent reported.
She regretted the frequent violations of the ceasefire along the line of contact between the Azerbaijani and Armenian troops, noting that Armenia and Russia adhere to certain common stance on this issue. Merkel also said Germany supports the work of the OSCE Minsk Group.
Azerbaijan has been intensively shelling at the Armenian positions along the Line of Contact with Karabakh over the last days. In addition, Azerbaijan has attempted several raids. Armenian soldiers Suren Pilosyan, Arman Udumyan and Nahapet Asatryan died of gunshot wounds on January 19-21 during heavy shelling from the Azerbaijani positions.
