Failure of Robert Walter's resolution presented to PACE, is first of all a result of OSCE MG co chairs' work, member of Armenian Delegation to PACE and Head of Armenian National Congress Faction Levon Zurabyan, who is currently in Strasbourg, said.
PACE has approved the resolution entitled "Inhabitants of frontier regions of Azerbaijan are deliberately deprived of water" (rapporteur Milica Markovic, Bosnia and Herzegovina) on January 26. At the same time PACE has rejected the anti-Armenian resolution "Escalation of violence in Nagorno-Karabakh and the other occupied territories of Azerbaijan" (rapporteur Robert Walter, UK).
"Certainly, French MPs have significantly helped the co-chairs in this issue, Americans played considerable role, Russian counterparts also made steps", he noted.
At the same time Zurabyan noted that it would be at least naive to think that PACE's rejection of Robert Walter's report was exclusively result of Armenian diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing approval of anti Armenian resolutions in PACE. "I must note that unfortunately the same result was not achieved related to the second anti Armenian report presented in Strasburg. It is the first time PACE approved a report containing expressions that territories "belongto Azerbaijan" and this sparks concerns", member of Armenian Delegation to PACE summarized.
