Armenian Minister of Nature Protection Aramais Grigoryan met with representatives of a number of diplomatic missions in Armenia, as well as the EU Delegation to Armenia.
The Ministry's press office reports that French Ambassador Francois Hollande, Polish Ambassador Jerzy Marek Nowakowski, Lithuanian Ambassador Erikas Petrikas, Bulgarian Ambassador Georgi Karastamatov, Italian Ambassador Giovanni Ricciulli, Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Piotr Switalski attended the meeting.
The minister presented the document elaborated by Armenia on the threshold of the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris. He pointed out that Armenia will take all possible measures towards mitigation of the climate changes.
To note, from 1953 till 2012 the air temperature in Armenia rose by 1.03 degrees. According to the surveys, within the specified period precipitation fell by 10%. The climate change has a direct impact on natural ecosystems, biodiversity, water resources, forest ecosystems, as well as on human health.
Climatic forecasts say that by 2030 air temperature in Armenia will rise by 1-1.2 degrees, and by 2100 - by 4.8-5.7 degrees. The temperature rise amid the forecast precipitation decline will have a number of negative consequences; particularly, evaporation capacity growth and snow cover reduction.
