The young man who illegally
crossed the Armenian-Turkish border and was detained by the local residents,
volunteers assisting the Russian Frontier to provide security on the border, on
2 September has been identified. It was a citizen of Afghanistan Farid Satar,
born in 1988.
The Russian Frontier Department press-service told
ArmInfo, Satar says he wanted to cross the Iranian border for Turkey to rejoin
his family that lives in Van. This version is being verified now. The Russian frontiers have been informed of
the incidents and immediately began examining the area along the riverbank. They
found a bag that is supposed to belong to Satar.
The bag was submitted to the National Security Service
of Armenia that will inquire into the incident.
The volunteers Karo Davtyan and Rafik Petrosyan will
be awarded by the Russian Frontier Department for their service today.
