Armenia is ready to move forward with EU and develop relations in all possible areas, Armenia's Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian announced at a press conference in Yerevan on February 2.
Armenian minister recalled that at the end of last year Armenia and EU announced about launch of negotiations around framework document, after which the first phase of negotiations started. During these negotiations the terms of holding next phases of negotiations were decided. "This year a number of visits on high level will be held and we are ready to develop relations with EU in all possible areas, which will not contradict to Armenia's obligations in other integration processes", Nalbandian summarized.
To note, on October 12, in Luxembourg, the Council authorized the European Commission and the High Representative to open negotiations on a new, legally binding and overarching agreement with Armenia, and adopted the corresponding negotiating mandate. This agreement will replace the current EU-Armenia partnership and cooperation agreement. The EU is committed to further develop and strengthen comprehensive cooperation with Armenia in all areas of mutual interest within the Eastern Partnership framework.
On December 7, at the EU Headquarters in Brussels, Edward Nalbandian, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice- President of the Commission, announced the launch of negotiations on a new Armenia-European Union framework agreement.
