Georgian MFA has issued a statement that reads that Georgia does not recognize the parliamentary elections held in Nagorno-Karabakh.
"Eelctions, held in occupied Azerbaijani territories, are contrary to the principles of the international law", reads the statement. Georgia expresses hope that both sides will continue bending efforts directed at the settlement of the conflict.
To note, the statement was preceded by Tbilisi's response to the meeting of speaker of National Assembly Galust Sahakyan with his South Ossetian colleague Anatoliy Bibilov. ress secretary of Georgian MFA David Kereselidze has said that if the meeting is confirmed to have taken place, Tbilisi will accurately respond to Yerevan by any and all means. "This may be by way of note, message, consultations, as well as a meeting with the ambassador", said Kereselidze. To note, Arsen Babayan, Head of NA Public Relations and Media Department, has confirmed that the meeting between Sahakyan and Bibilov has taken place. Babayan emphasized that the meeting did not have an official character. "It was a private meeting, the sides discussed nor reached any accommodations during it", assured Babayan.
