World-known pianist Evgeny Kissin will put on a concert in Yerevan on April 2. Kissin will perform within the framework of the music festival "Yerevan Perspectives". Works by Beethoven, Chopin, Prokofiev and Liszt are to be performed.
Kissin has been actively engaged in charity works for Armenia for many years. After the 1988 earthquake in Spitak the musician has repeatedly appropriated money for the needy families in Gyumri and Spitak.
Evgeny Kissin is a Grammy prize holder. The recording of works by Scriabin, Medtner and Stravinsky won him a Grammy in 2006 for Best Instrumental Soloist. In 2010 he was awarded the Grammy for Best Instrumental Soloist Performance (With Orchestra) for his recording of Prokofiev's Piano Concertos Nos. 2 and 3 with the Philharmonia Orchestra, conducted by Vladimir Ashkenazy. Kissin is actively engaged in giving concerts in Europe, America and Asia. Throughout his musical career he has performed with the leading orchestras under the lead of conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Daniel Barenboim and Valery Gergiev.
The festival "Yerevan Perspectives" will take place under the patronage of Armenia's President with the assistance of Ministry of Culture and Yerevan City Hall. All the concerts to take place within the framework of the festival in 2015 will be dedicated to the centennial of the Armenian Genocide.
