Statements that five districts adjacent to Nagorno Karabakh will be passed to Azerbaijan exert pressure on the process, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Matthew Bryza said.
Such statements make pressure on the process and I think that it is impossible to make this step in several months, the expert told journalists in Baku, Haqqin.az informs.
Bryza noted that during negotiations in Vienna and Saint Petersburg the sides of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict have really reached certain results.
The negotiations not only reduced tensions on the Line of Contact but also led to discussions of the political moments of the conflict settlement, he said.
Touching upon Russia's role in the settlement of the conflict Bryza noted that President Vladimir Putin is really concerned that the crisis was very serious in April and new war is not in Russia's interests. According to the expert Putin may play a role of peacekeeper in this conflict.
