The parliamentary forces of Armenia, regardless of their political views, do not support the Founding Parliament movement's steps and statements aimed at shifting the power in Armenia starting from April 24, 2015.
At today's briefing at the Armenian Parliament, Armen Rustamyan, member of the Bureau of ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party, said that it is unacceptable to link any domestic political ambitions to the centennial of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey. "It will be the best gift for Turkey on the threshold of the Armenian Genocide centennial. It can be prevented. Delegations from almost all countries will arrive in Armenia on those days and the Founding Parliament's protest actions will simply defame our country," he said. Rustamyan also stressed that ARFD will by no means cooperate with the Founding Parliament because the ARFD has nothing to do with the political force whose steps aim to split the national unity of Armenian people. He urged the political forces to prevent the Founding Parliament from carrying out its programs and also urged the Armenian authorities to take all measures to prevent undesirable developments. "The criminal legislations throughout the world contain relevant articles for such cases", said Rustamyan.
For his part, Heritage MP Tevan Poghosyan said that the Founding Parliament's actions have no political component. He urged the movement to hold its protest actions after April 24 and not to involve Karabakh in the actions.
Vahram Baghdasaryan, Head of the Republican Party of Armenia faction, expressed confidence that the Founding Parliament members will change their mind and will cancel their plans.
To note, on April 24, the Founding Parliament will start round-the-clock protest actions in Yerevan. The movement will not disturb the Armenian Genocide centennial events. The protest actions will be launched in the second half of the day.
