Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) is a good opportunity for economic development of Armenia, Khosrov Haroutiunyan, Leader of the Christian Democratic Party of Armenia, MP from the Republican Party Faction, told reporters, Thursday.
The politician believes that Armenia's accession to the EEU is the most important event of the year, as it will settle both security and economy problems of the country. The parliamentarian is sure that with accession to the EEU Armenia will not lose its sovereignty, as the EEU is an economic structure similar to the European common market.
In this light, he said, Armenia can use GSP+ - the EU's Generalised scheme of preferences (GSP) that provides developing countries preferential access to the EU market through
reduced tariffs - to export the products of the EEU countries to Europe.
"We should also use that opportunity to develop high technologies, light industry, health care and other sectors," he said.
On 10 October President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and the EEU leaders signed an agreement of Armenia's accession to the Union.
