Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has come out with remarks dedicated to the Constitutional reform in the country, today on February 12. He said formation of a new political system is well under way in Armenia. The president is sure that the Constitutional reform will make the political system more open, flexible and coherent as well as will meet the social structure of the Armenian society.
"Like in many democratic societies, the leaders of the political fight will be political parties. Our political parties and their coalitions will form the legislative bodies, advance nominees for the leading posts in the government and local self-government agencies," the president said. He said the political system will be reformed and improved through competition of political units on condition that there will be a consensus on the foreign security strategy, social stability, national security, the basic principles of the Constitution, sovereignty, human rights and freedoms. The president said the situation in the country makes many people migrate, while it is necessary to ensure that the people feel happy in Armenia and even the Armenians leaving abroad want to return to their motherland. "Foreign policy challenges among others make us take this path of development. All our efforts should be directed towards settlement of these tasks," the president said urging the establishment of social accord inside the country.
The president is sure that the geopolitical changes bind the world Armenians to unite and ensure secure existence of the Armenian people. "In this light, it is important for Armenia to be an organized state exemplary for all Armenians. We have two values - Armenia and the Armenian people," Serzh Sargsyan said. "Considering the situation in the region, we simply ought to have a strong country confident in its own might. I am sure the new Constitution will turn into a document of people's accord in the short run," the Armenian leader said.
The president urges new initiative and ideas. The problem of the country does not belong to the state only, he said, these are the problems of every citizen of Armenia. The Constitutional reform will give an opportunity to build a new, free and strong Armenia, the president said.
