The Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) would contemplate the the application on the sale of the shares of Orange Armenia to Ucom. The respective draft Decision on the sale of 100 % of shares is in the agenda of the PSCR , which will be held on August 20.
According to the draft Decision posted on the PSCR website, it is proposed to permit the sale of the entire package of shares of Orange Armenia to Ucom.
Before that in an interview with ArmInfo Francis Gelibter, General Manager of Orange Armenia, mentioned that with the departure of Orange Armenia monopolization of the telecom market of Armenia can be excluded by Ucom. He clarified that there will be no monopolization since three players will remain on the market: Beeline in Armenia, VivaCell and truly Armenian operator represented by Ucom, challenging the leading positions by concluding the transaction on acquisition of the Orange Armenia.
Thanks to Ucom it would be possible to retain the competition at the Armenian telecom market. According to the preliminary arrangement between the Orange Group and Ucom, the Orange brand will remain on the market 12 months more and the new owner will decide whether to make the re-branding or not.
