A declaration of "Eastern Partnership" has been unanimously adopted.
However, Prime Minister of Estonia Taavi Roivas has said that only EU countries have endorsed the wording "annexation of Crimea".
President of the European Council Donald Tusk said that the EU should take a differentiated approach towards EP countries based on their stance on the resolution. Prime Minister of Latvia Laimdota Straujuma has said that the declaration states EU's reaffirmation on its positions in relation to the territorial integrity, independence and sovereignty of Eastern Partnership countries. To remind, Armenia and Belarus refused to sign up to any statement that called "Russia's annexation of Ukraine's Crimea peninsula illegal" and EU diplomats said a compromise text would be put to them.
There have previously been contradictions on "Nagorno- Karabakh" wordings. Conditioned by this Azerbaijan refused to sign the "Eastern Partnership" final declaration at the last moment. According to a reliable source, for this very reason president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev refused to participate in the Riga Summit.
