The South Caucasus Railway (SCR) has repaired the first of the 14 ChME3 shunting diesel locomotives and this is the first successful practice of depot repair of such kind of locomotives at the material and technical facilities in Armenia.
On October 26, SCR CEO Sergey Valko said that such kind of repair has never been carried out in Armenia before. "Our employees introduced certain elements of non-standard equipment, which is not available in Russian either," he said. He added that a total of 1 287 mln AMD was invested in the renovation of the Yerevan depot. 316 mln AMD of this amount was spent on acquisition of the new equipment.
For his part, Head of the Railway Department of the Armenian Ministry of Transport and Communication Arsen Mkrtchyan said that the repair of the locomotive demonstrates competent use of investments and marks a new stage of development of the railway transport of Armenia.
Valko thanked the SCR CJSC employees and handed awards and money prizes to them.
To note, Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Ivan Volynkin was also present at the event. He also congratulated the SCR employees on the launch of the repaired locomotive.
To recall, SCR CJSC is a 100% subsidiary of Russian Railway OJSC and the concessional manager of the Armenian Railway under the 13 Feb 2008 agreement, which was signed for 30 years but can be prolonged for 10 more years.
