The new Turkish Minister for the Affairs with the EU Ali Gaydar Konca touched the matter of the Armenian Genocide during the interview with the journalists, actually not denying that such events took place, the Turkish Today`s Zaman informs.
The journalists asked him what would be the attitude of the new Minister if the EU Parliament would have the Armenian Genocide issue in the Agenda. Konca replied that Armenian Genocide or not, it doesn't matter but it is clear that a massacre took place in Turkey during the World War I. This is recognized by everyone.
Note that the new minister is representing pro-Kurdish party "Democracy of people" (NDP). The leader of this political power is Selahetdin Demirtas during the presidential campaign issued a statement that, if elected, he will recognize the Armenian Genocide. In turn, Minister for the EU Affairs said that his party will hold a discussion on this issue and determine its position. Turkish media evaluated the statement of the minister as "going beyond". Pro-government Sabah also writes that Konca and Muslum Dogan, the other ministers from NDP, who received the portfolio of the Ministry of Development, will lose their positions in accordance with article 109 of the Constitution, if they express against "counter-terrorism" or harm Ankara's position on the international scene by their statements. Prime Minister Davutoglu, commenting on the situation, also said that ministers should not "go beyond." At the same time, he said that ministers were appointed on the basis of the requirements of the Constitution for the forming the interim government. Ali Haidar Konca and Muslum Dogan will hold office until November 1, till the date of extraordinary elections to the parliament, appointed due to the inability to form a government and coalition within the prescribed period after the last elections in the summer.
It should be noted that the Democratic People's Party is the only force in the Turkish Parliament, which has officially recognized the Armenian Genocide, calling on the government of Turkey to accept its own history.
