Within the framework of his visit to Belgium, Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan on Wednesday laid a wreath to the cross-stone, which is placed in Brussels and in memory of the Armenian Genocide victims.
Ohanyan, Armenia's Ambassador to Belgium Avet Adonts, Armenia's Permanent Representative to NATO, Ambassador Armen Yedigarian, along with representatives from the Belgian-Armenian community organizations, laid wreathes and placed flowers to pay tribute to the victims of the Armenian pogroms in Sumgait, Azerbaijan, which were carried out 26 years ago.
The victims of the Armenian pogroms in Sumgait were also remembered in Moscow today. A church mass was offered in memory of hundreds of innocent Armenians who had fallen victims to massacres in their homes, between February 27 and 29, 1988 in Azerbaijan SSR, and wreathes were laid.
Armenia's Ambassador to the RF Oleg Yesayan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of New Nakhijevan and Russia Archbishop Yezras Nersissian, and numerous others attended the event, informs vice chairman Levon Mukanyan of the Union of Armenians of Russia.
