"Heritage" Party deputy Tevan Poghosyan is suggesting deploying OSCE Minsk Group mediators' office near the Line of Contact of the Artsakhi and Azeri troops. This, he has told ArmInfo journalist, will decrease the escalation in the conflict zone.
The politician has favourably viewed co-chairs' visits to the conflicting countries. This also contributes to the decrease of the escalation. He, however, would also like to see co-chairs acting jointly.
The deputy has also commented on American co-chair James Warlick's statement on the assumption that deploying peacemakers is to become one of the points in the final settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. This statement, the deputy says, was made to clean Warlick of the shadow of the interview he had given to "Vedomosti" and which sparked outrage in the Armenian society. According to Poghosyan, Warlick is trying to be hyperactive to justify the fact he holds his position. He is the first American official not to couple it with other ones.
Earlier on, Warlick told the Russian "Vedomosti" that The "occupied territories" must be returned to Azerbaijan's control within the framework of a comprehensive settlement. This sparked outrage in Armenia. During the July 20 press conference in Yerevan he said that within the comprehensive settlement the sides are to reach an understanding on Artsakhi population's free exercise of choice, refugee's return and domestic migrants. "Besides, there should be real and stable security guarantees. This, in turn, envisages the deployment of peacemakers in the region", he emphasized.
