Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan had a telephone conversation with First Vice President of Iran Eshaq Jahangiri.
The press office of the Armenian Government has told ArmInfo that the sides reached an agreement on the launch of construction of the Iran-Armenia Third High-Voltage Power Transmission Line. Eshaq Jahangiri reaffirmed his intention to pay an official visit to Armenia this year.
The interlocutors also discussed a number of issues related to the joint projects on development of trade and economic ties. In this context, they stressed the need to intensify the activities of the Armenian-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission for further strengthening of the bilateral ties.
The conversation also covered issues related to regional developments.
To note, the total cost of the Iran-Armenia Third High-Voltage Power Transmission Line is 107.9 million. The amount will be lent by Iran. The 83,083 mln EUR loan agreement was signed in September 2011, another 24,817 mln EUR loan agreement was signed in April 2012. Under the agreement, the construction of the 400 KV power transmission line is to be completed within 18 months since the opening of the funding. Earlier Armenian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Yervand Zakharyan said that the construction of the power transmission line will allow increasing the electric power supplies from Armenia from the current 1.2 bln kWh to 7 bln kWh per annum.
