"Iran recognizes and respects the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan", Iran's ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pak Ayin told in an interview with the local press, according to Azertag. The diplomat emphasized that Iran stands for a solution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the territorial integrity principle.
"Iran is ready to help finding a solution to the conflict, if the two sides apply. Official Tehran is interested in peace and mutual cooperation in the region", Mohsen Pak Ayin underlined.
Earlier Yasar Aydemirov, reserve general of Azerbaijan's armed forces, said in an interview with APA that the military aid of the Iranian brothers is irreplaceable for Azerbaijan. He said that today like during the Karabakh war, Iran has supported Azerbaijan both politically and militarily. Iranian specialists and volunteers fought on the Azerbaijani side in Karabakh in 1990s.
Aydemirov said that Iran and Azerbaijan are now cooperating in the fields of defense and security. "High level meetings are held with participation of specialists and trips are organized to get firs-hand view of Iran's defense industry," he said.
"It is no secret that the Iran-made 122mm howitzers D-30, 107mm YARS MLRS, 60mm mortars, ammunitions and other supplies were successfully used this April during the military actions against Armenian occupants. I talked to my comrades-in-arms that participated in the fighting and found out that these weapons are very efficient and have a high destructive power," the Azerbaijani lt. general said. He added that Iran will always support its Mulsim brothers
