The Permyakov case will be used as a pretext for the planned withdrawal of the 102nd Russian military base from Armenia, Armenian political expert Saro Saroyan told ArmInfo on Friday.
Saroyan is sure that the crime was organized by Russian special services: "This is a reaction to the Kremlin's defeat in its conflict with the West. As a result of this defeat, the Russians are forced to reformat their influence zones in Ukraine and the South Caucasus. They may well be forced to go away from Armenia, so, they will not need to have a military base here, will they?"
A family of six people was killed by Russian serviceman Valery Permyakov in Gyumri on Jan 12. The only survivor, six-month-old baby, died of severe injuries in hospital on Jan 19. The Gyumri population demands that Perymakov be given to the Armenian law enforcers.
